After many, many years of building computer models trying to understand how light energy interacts with various tissues, I have now built a wee app which does it all for you!! But, only for laser/IPL hair removal (so far!)

This app allows the user to select a device, its maxmimum fluence and pulsewidth and its spot size.

Then, they can input their client’s details – skin tone, hair colour, hair thickness and body site.

The app then suggests a recommended fluence range for those particular conditions, plus the ice-cooling time suggestion. It evens shows the fluences required at various depth as it targets the stem cell bulge and dermal papilla – very interesting!!

After that, it shows the recommended interval until the subsequent treatment. Finally, it shows the ‘population dose-reponse’ – a bit technical but quite useful too!!

All useful stuff, I think…
